It seems to me Free to Learn is a good place to be for this global movement, but I am also aware that Je’anna Clements has set up a Discord server which also has a number of “subscribers” and information and experiences being shared. I am not attached to which platform we use, but I am interested to see us coming together on a regular basis, both in person and online, so that whatever gaps there are in the platforms we share can be bridged. The regular in-person and online meetings on Zoom would be necessary even if we had only one digital home. The reason is because there will be too much info for everyone to go through. --Dean
Substack can only be the front line of communication, building the Register and maybe some other very basic functions.
You could say Substack is the front door to the home.
It is chosen and proposed because it is so simple and easy/fast to use.
It is ideal as the place to collect all registers and maintain basic communication which does not require any specific skill.
Other areas are needed for coordination and practice. Substack is not a platform.
We are designing a custom made prototype which requires the community's support to be completed. This is what we will discuss on the 14th. https://freetolearn.substack.com/p/how-will-we-become-a-community-rather. If we manage to come together in terms of financing it it could be ready in 5 months. Yes, regular in-person and online meetings are essential.
In the meantime we use the EUDEC Basecamp. A Free to Learn Basecamp is already set up. The same for the Legal Research, Global Alliance for Human Rights in Education, Fundraising and more. This could be connected to Discord as well as all th eother media it is connected to anyway to make up for its disadvantages. This will no longer be necessary with a custom made platform.
